E-DETECT TB partners have welcomed a new WHO Europe report on TB screening and care for migrants and refugees which identifies a number of significant gaps in knowledge among services across the region. E-DETECT TB partners are already working with European health providers and other agencies to rectify some of these issues, with the overall aim of improving the health and prospects of these populations. Our project was featured in the report as a case study for the implementation of interventions (see p30).
Karolinska Institutet’s Professor Knut Lönnroth, who leads an E-DETECT work package to establish a database of latent and active TB in Europe, acted as external peer reviewer for the report.
The publication, titled “What constitutes an effective and efficient package of services for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of tuberculosis among refugees and migrants in the WHO European Region?” is available to download now on the WHO website.
