E-DETECT TB to present findings to date at The Union 2018

The E-DETECT TB partners will be hosting a symposium at the 49th Union World Conference on Lung Health to be held in The Hague, The Netherlands later this year.

Conference delegates will hear talks from Marieke van der Werf (ECDC), Gerard de Vries (KNCV), Daniela Cirillo (OSR), Knut Lönnroth (KI) and Dominik Zenner (PHE).  The session, “Towards tackling tuberculosis in vulnerable groups in the European Union. Results from the European Commission Funded E-DETECT TB project”, will close with a panel discussion.

The symposium will take place on Friday, 26th October from 10.30am to 12.00pm in the King Willem Alexander Plenary Hall, and below you can find a brief outline of the topics to be discussed.  Further details will be published on The Union World Conference’s website in early July.

Towards tackling tuberculosis in vulnerable groups in the European Union.
Results from the European Commission Funded E-DETECT TB project

Tuberculosis in the European Union (EU) and other low-incidence countries increasingly affects risk groups, such as migrants, homeless persons, drug users and prisoners.
This symposium will present results of a European tuberculosis initiative with projects on migrant screening in Italy and active case finding in vulnerable groups in Romania. It will discuss a platform for pooling latent and active tuberculosis screening data from multiple countries to inform future screening policies in low-incidence countries. Furthermore, the use of national tuberculosis strategies to control tuberculosis in the EU and low-incidence countries is discussed.
